Project Description
Joint Policing Committees (JPCs) provide a forum where the local authority (local authority officers and elected members) and senior Garda Officers policing the local area can participate with Oireachtas members and community representatives to consult, discuss and make recommendations on issues relating to policing and crime in the local area. Joint Policing Committees review crime levels and patterns, cooperate on local responses to issues and consult on anti-social behaviour in the area. Recommendations from JPCs may inform divisional and district policing plans. Members of the public and media are welcome to attend Joint Policing Committee meetings.

Projects completed by County Louth JPCs include:
(i) Road Safety exhibition - Displays by the RSA/Gardaí/Ambulance and Fire Services under the umbrella of the JPC brought a focus on road safety issues including wearing seat belts/ drink driving and other best motoring practices
(ii) Events Management Guide - Publication by the JPC network of an events management guide to assist local communities who are organising local events. Shows best practice and planning tips and guide for any event big or small (link below)
(iii) Beat the Burglar - Seminar planned in conjunction with An Garda Síochána crime prevention unit and the security trade to highlight actions and precautions householders can take to prevent burglaries
